fosure !
Sir,
I have the honour to refer to the Duke of
Devonshire's despatch No.21 of the 30th January, 1923, on the subject of the salaries of the Royal Observatory staff
in which His Grace approved scales of salary as follows:-
Director
$700 to £900 by £20
annually.
(Mr. T. F. Claxton)
Chief Assistant
(Mr. C. W. Jeffries)
First Assistant
(Mr. B. D. Evans)
2.
£500 to £650 by 7 annual
increments of £20 and one
of £10.
£400 to £500 by £20
annually.
I enclose a copy of an application dated
24th October, 1924, from the First Assistant, Mr. Evans, for an increase of salary. This application was considered by Sir R. E. Stubbs who was unwilling to make any recommendation at the time, but undertook that the matter would be considered with the 1926 Estimates. When, however,
the 1926 Estimates were under consideration, the
circumstances of the Colony were such that Sir R. E. Stubbe felt himself unable to recommend any further increases of
salary.
HE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LIEUTENANT COLONEL L.C.H.S. AMERY, H.P.,
